New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida during the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, where they discussed collaboration in areas of green hydrogen and semiconductors, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Modi arrived in Hiroshima on Friday to attend three sessions at the G7 summit following an invitation from Kishida.
In a tweet, Modi described his meeting with Kishida as “excellent” and said, “We reviewed the full range of India-Japan relations and also discussed the focus areas of India’s G20 presidency and Japan’s G7 presidency towards making our planet better.”
According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), this was PM Modi’s second meeting with Kishida, who had visited India in March this year.
During their interaction, Modi and Kishida focussed on ways to synergise efforts under G7 and G20 presidencies to deal with various global challenges.
“…Also exchanged views on contemporary regional developments and on deepening cooperation in the Indo-Pacific,” Modi said.
Both the leaders also agreed on ways to strengthen bilateral Special Strategic and Global Partnership, the PMO said.
They discussed education, skill development, tourism, Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE), green hydrogen, high technology, semiconductors and digital public infrastructure. Combating terrorism and United Nations reforms were also discussed , it added.
