PSG manager Christophe Galtier detained for alleged discrimination at Nice

Paris Saint Germain’s manager Christophe Galtier is being questioned after being taken into custody for his alleged discrimination during the former’s time at Nice, news agency AFP quoted a prosecutor as saying.

According to the complaint, where his son’s name – John Valovic-Galtier – is also involved, Galtier made racist and Islamophobic remarks about players when he coached Nice in the 2021-22 season. In April, an investigation was launched to probe the issue.

As per details, with PSG suffering 10 defeats in 2023 and exiting the Champions League, Galtier is set to be sacked by the Qatari owners. Though still under contract at PSG, Galtier denied accusations that he made racist and anti-Muslim comments.

Earlier, RMC Sport and other French media published reported Galtier saying there were too many Black and Muslim players in the squad quoting a leaked email from former Nice director of football Julien Fournier to the club’s owners.

Galtier in a statement, released by his lawyer to French media, said that he was “stunned to learn of the insulting and defamatory” report. He even said that he would take unspecified legal actions.
